When it comes to parenting, patience is a virtue – especially when your 3 year old is wailing to glory at the supermarket or refuses to budge out of the toy store without his / her favourite toy. Thankfully, patience is a quality that can be imbibed – especially with these three tips (Or else we would all be doomed right?!)
1. Stop Beating Yourself Up.
Ok, you had a stressful morning and it didn’t go exactly the way you wanted it. But then kids are unpredictable and parenting is hard. So stop beating yourself up about it and give yourself a pat on the back… you are going to get through it all!
2. Learn To Find The Humour In Every Situation.
Learning to laugh at your self is a great skill, something you can imbibe with practise. This will help boost your confidence and thus help you become more patient around your kids. So, next time your toddler decides to throw a tantrum, take a deep breath and relax – this will definitely help you handle the situation better and laugh out loud later.
3. Say Sorry And Mean It.
There’s no shame in admitting you were wrong to lose your temper. It shows your child that you are learning too. So, next time you lose your patience don’t hesitate to say, “I’m sorry I lost my temper this morning. It was a really stressful day right? Here’s what we are going to do differently tomorrow…”
Follow these steps and let us know if you feel more patient than before with your toddlers.
